Massive Rec List
lolnonymous
[info]aztecravemonkey
This is a list of fics that I've actually read and highly recommend. Why? Because after harping so much about terrible fanfiction, I figured it'd be a cool idea to have fic that I'd actually fucking recommend for once. That and Kay asked me, and whenever Kay asks, I'm like, "OKAY!" Which may lead to shenanigans if she took advantage of that, but hey.

In any case, organized by fandom and listed alphabetically after that. Comes coupled with explanations, notes, warnings, and genres, just so we're all covered. Chaptered denotes chaptered fic; one-shot… yeah.

And in case anyone's wondering why their story isn't here, let me list off the criteria for you:

1. I need to have actually read a good portion of it. Not necessarily all of it, but I need to have an idea of what about it would make me consider it a good fic.
2. Yes, I need to be insanely wowed. As in, if you have awesome prose, likable characters, amazing plots, or just bring a little something new to the table, that's a plus. If you make me think, that's a plus too. If you include Bill… um, also a plus. But yeah, this isn't just a list of stories I liked. This is a list of stories I thought were so great I'd be willing to read them again and again. (In some cases, I even do.) If we just listed every story I liked, period, then we'd be here all night.

But if it's still mildly uncomfortable, just remember that this is a completely subjective kind of thing. It's completely my opinion, and my opinion is liable to change. I might add to this list later, and I might take down recs if I feel like I've found something better. It's not set in stone, and remember: it doesn't include everything.

Drabbles, Part I
lolnonymous
[info]aztecravemonkey
The first two drabbles flash fiction for the requests last month. The last two are currently in the process of being rewritten. Again.

Title: Problematic
Fandom: Pokémon
Characters/Pairings: Mewtwo, Mew
Genre: Humor
Rating: G
Word Count: 293
Summary: To be fair, Ramune is never easy.
Author's Note: For [info]psychmoonshadow, who requested a fic about Mewtwo. (I apologize for nothing.)

Title: The Eevee Incident
Fandom: Pokémon
Characters/Pairings: Bebe, Bill
Genre: Humor
Rating: PG
Word Count: 500
Summary: And this is why Bebe is not allowed to ask anyone for relationship advice.
Author's Note: For [personal profile] annikun, who requested a fic about Bebe, preferably involving Roark/Bebe or Bebe's relationship with Bill. It wound up with all of the above and a healthy dose of crack.

Really? /Really?/
Yeah... no.
[info]aztecravemonkey
Normally, I don't post full transcripts of the things I receive privately (because that's petty), but this is just way too ridiculous for words.

I got an e-mail this morning from someone who's apparently stumbled across one of my posts on SPPf. One of the lengthy ones to Silver. They also apparently failed to read said post because they ask a question I've already answered in length. Anyone who bothers to read anything I write on SPPf would know that: 1) I write lengthy posts and 2) I don't like it when people tl;dr what I have to say. (Breezy knows this aaaaaalllll too well.)

But of course, not everyone's maturity and reading comprehension skills are up-to-par in this fandom. And also, yes, fandom is serious business, and triggers mean "I don't like it." So anyway, this ensued:

Seriously, why the hell am I in fandom? I swear, sometimes, I'm tempted to go to a tiny island of the web and keep my fics there because every year, fandom (or at least the ones I'm in) get stupider and stupider. I swear, it wasn't this ridiculous before Gen V came out.

But seriously, ffs, I hope that triggers don't end up being treated the same way autism is treated in this fandom. It's hard enough to get taken seriously if you actually do suffer from those kinds of things, but this fandom has a talent of taking those kinds of concepts and using them as excuses for crappy behavior. (Okay, that doesn't just happen in this fandom, but it's the only fandom I remotely care about that does that. And yes, I know that there are probably a number of people out there that have AS or triggers. I'm just talking about the kids who claim to have them just to have an excuse to bully and flame people into treating them kindly after they pull classy acts.) Twelve-year-olds, kindly GTFO so the rest of us can actually be treated with sensitivity and the dignity we deserve. You can, meanwhile, grow a spine and suck it up when someone gives you crit or responds to you intelligently.

ETA: The train wreck keeps going!

(no subject)

I'm semi-sober, tired, somewhat depressed, overstressed, looking at a blank word processor document, hungering for crackfic, and only now aware that it's 4/20. I'd apologize for anything I'm about to do to my cast of characters (and by that, I mean Bill), except I'm really not sorry.

So before I let myself get away with all kinds of shenanigans, have something I wrote the last time I was drunk.

But before that, three of the drabbles are finished (but one is going to be rewritten), so those'll be up at a sane hour. AEM 28 is also up on Serebii and has been for a couple of days. 500 hits, no comments so far. Not that I'm trying to fish for replies, but to those of you who occasionally like complaining to me that your work doesn't get that much attention, please keep that in mind.

And I somehow managed to win the Pokeprompts challenge. You'd think I'd have PMed the mods already with what I want done with the prizes, but I can't decide on a charity. I'd like to give it to a pretty cool cancer research group, but there's three of them that are all cool. *facebury* Will get to that at a sane hour as well.

Anyway, that thing I mentioned three paragraphs ago!

Worldbuilding: Drugs. Because of course, with my cast of characters, drugs is at the top of the to-know list. )

Fanfiction awards results are finally in!

Awards and Commentary )

I'd like to thank everyone who voted! You all are awesome people, and I'm really, really flattered that I actually won (or placed pretty high in) so many categories this year. So because I'm really, really excited and happy that I ranked pretty awesomely this year... DRABBLES FOR EVERYONE!

Comment on this entry with a prompt, set of characters, pairing, some combination thereof, whatever, and I'll write a 100-word story (give or take) based on what you give me. Request as many as you'd like! This offer will continue for a week, and yes, I'll get your prompts done as quickly as I can.

What can I write? Click here for a list of fandoms! Your prompt does not have to be restricted to the characters or pairings I list on the fandom post.

The equivalent of a stiff drink.
lolnonymous
[info]aztecravemonkey
Well, today was all sorts of fantastic, including two bouts of drama, one "I may or may not have attempted to gatecrash Anime Boston with mixed results," one nearly-getting-hit-by-a-car because New Yorkers in SUVs are douchebags, and one in-house theft. (Seriously, who steals a plunger?)

And now my eye is twitching, which either means I need a stiff drink or sleep.

Instead, I'm staring at my screen, thinking of all the productive things I should be doing. I have most of AEM 27 mentally composed, but I haven't felt arsed to write it down yet. Yet, I want to do something with Bill before he makes me have more plot bunnies.

So instead... you know that part of A Study In Scarlet where Watson takes inventory of Holmes's library of knowledge? For my benefit (read: to keep things straight and avoid accidentally creating a Canon Sue), a full list of Bill's mental library, with comments and what I'd personally think are lulz thrown in.

Naaaaa na-na-na-na-na-na-na KATAMARI DAMACY.
Negimobile
[info]aztecravemonkey
...Has nothing whatsoever to do with this post, but you're welcome for getting it stuck in your head.

Going to Anime Boston tomorrow for ONE DAY ONLY because I'm poor. Want to meet up? Look for the girl in gray who's stalking this fantastic chick. There will be Pokémans if I can remember to bring my DS.

Also, Haruhi lost to America, so I'm voting against him out of spite. You should also vote out of spite vote for Natsume (seeing as Howl's basically not going to win)!

And I feel like I need to fangirl about Bill for some reason. Probably due to withdrawal. (I haven't had a headcanon post for so long, guys.) And also actually working on not only AEM but the comic script may have something to do with this.

(Actual thought going through my head while writing the latter: "No, self, you may not use the term 'Clefabill' at any point during this. Bad! No biscuit!")

My to-do list for this weekend:

That said, if I don't respond to comments and whatnot, I love you all, and I'm totally not avoiding you. I'm just going to be "LOL WHAT WEEKEND" for this entire weekend.

On the positive side, I finally did my schedule for summer, and due to financial aid lulz (read: they're paying me $2000 less than what I need to have eight credits per semester), I've only marked myself down for an internship. Which means I'm also most likely going to look for a job. Or at least have massive amounts of free time this summer. Yay!
